Workout Tips | How to handle your hair at the gym

Research has shown that 2 out of every 5 African American women have avoided exercise due to concerns of ruining their hair style, researches say that this is concerning given the United States Obesity Epidemic. My hair has never stopped me from working out, but I have learned that many of my friends fret getting their hair sweaty and will avoid workout to stay fit and healthy. Well, I have 3 tips to help you save your hairdo.

1) Braids:
Braids may not be for everyone, but they can come in handy when you want to kick start a gym regimen, and not have to worry about sweating out your hair do. Braids can be worn in a array of styles to help you get through you workout routine. I prefer to wear mine in a bun, but you can also put your braids in a low slung ponytail or a high ponytail with a sweat absorbent headband.

2) Sweat Absorbent Headband :
Sweat absorbent headbands can be worn around your head to keep from sweat dripping down onto you face and are a great piece for when you have your hair in a high bun or ponytail.  Actress Nicole Ari-Parker created the " Save your do" gym wrap which is a stylish headband that can be worn to protect you hair style from sweating out, it allows heat to escape, wicks away moisture and saves your hair style.

3) Pincurl/ Wrap:

Pin-curling is another method that can be used to save your hair-do. This technique will help keep your curls dry and is great for relaxed or presses hair, while it may not help with the root of your hair it will save your curls. Tie your hair up with a scarf and get your workout on.
